Minimum Requirements for Running Windows Vista

With the arrival of Windows Vista, you are sure curious to know whether your computer can run Microsoft’s new operating system. You may try the following tool to know if you can install Windows Vista.

Microsoft made available a tool that allows us to check our PC to know whether we can install Windows Vista. Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor.

Many people know that in order to run Windowns Vista on our PC, we’ll need plenty of hard disk and RAM memory. The minimum requirements to install Windows Vista are:

  1. A modern processor (800 Mhz at least)
  2. o 512 MB of system memory.
  3. Support for DirectX 9 graphics.
  4. In case you want to use Windows Vista Premium, you need at least 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  5. 1 GB of system memory
  6. Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM Driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum), Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware and 32 bits per pixel.
  7. 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
  8. DVD-ROM drive
  9. Audio Output
  10. Internet Access

As you may seem, the Minimum requirements are not than minimum. So if you want to know whether your computer can support Windows Vista, download Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor and determine whether your computer is ready for it.

In this case, we have done the test on a cirtual machine with Windows XP. The program we’ve used has been Vmware. And as you can see on the picture, our PC has passed the Test, although they recommended to improve our Graphic Card.
